position  is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the Clinical

 A unique and financially successful solo practice  is available in Canton, Michigan, located east of Ann   Arbor.  The practice is open to general pediatric  and adult strabismus patients.  A separate arrange-  ment with a local hospital for ROP screenings is also  available.  Surgeries are performed at two hospitals  and this could be expanded.

  My office space is rented from an associate   ophthalmologist and I share trained and supervised   employees with him including technicians, an    office manager, a surgery scheduler, billers, and   receptionists.  The pediatric area includes a   private entrance, four lanes, and two waiting   rooms.  The practice may remain in this building   or be moved.  I would like to transfer the practice   in early to mid 2009.

Requires certification as an Orthoptist by the American Orthoptic Council, Canadian Orthoptic Council or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
Advanced knowledge of Fresnel and spectacle prisms, advanced knowledge of normal eye movement. Ability to recognize an abnormality by performing the nine gaze movements. Advanced knowledge of strabismus in children and the procedures available to correct it and the importance of developing binocular vision in young children.  Knowledge of Retinoscopy and manifest refraction with phoropter. Knowledge to use a Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer and Goldman Analyzer.

In addition to a busy office practice, he also covers two hospitals with inpatient pediatric and neonatal intensive care units.
