Deborah M. Alcorn, MD

Dr. Debby Alcorn’s Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship was with Drs. Helveston and Ellis at Indiana University. She completed a second fellowship in Ocular Genetics with Irene Maumenee, MD,  at Wilmer Institute, where she remained on faculty for several years. Dr.  Alcorn was president of AAPOS from 2023-2024. She had previously served as a Director-at-Large on the Board of Directors. She earned the honor award  as well as the lifetime achievement award from AAPOS. Her service to the AAO includes serving on the AAO Instruction Advisory Committee, Chairperson, Pediatric Subcommittee Annual Meeting Program Committee and as a Member of the AAO Specialty Information Team. Dr. Alcorn received the Senior Achievement Award from AAO. She has served as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) since 2000. Dr. Alcorn developed the pediatric ophthalmology division at Lucille Packard Children Hospital at Stanford.  She received the Medical Staff Distinguished Service Award from Stanford Children’s Hospital in 2020. She is now Division Chief Emerita of Pediatrics & Strabismus Stanford Children’s Hospital and Emerita from the Departments of Ophthalmology & Pediatrics Stanford University. Currently, she practices with the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group. She cherishes family and friends and thrives on her commitment to patients and intellectual challenges.
