There are three main types of refractive error : myopia , hyperopia and astigmatism [See figures below]
These include: Eyes that don’t look in the same direction ( strabismus ) Needing glasses to see clearly ( refractive error , myopia , hyperopia, and astigmatism ) Lazy eye or weak vision ( Amblyopia ) If these issues are found and treated early, children can have good vision
There are different ways eye problems can cause headaches: Some kids are farsighted (hyperopia). This means they have to work hard to see things up close
The prescription for glasses will usually have a minus sign at the beginning of the prescription (for example, -2.00). Hyperopia (far-sightedness) – Many children are naturally far-sighted in early life and do not need treatment with glasses unless the far-sightedness is higher than normal
This is often due to one eye having a slightly different shape or size from the other causing unequal curving ( astigmatism ), unequal far-sightedness (hyperopia), or unequal near-sightedness ( myopia )
