Financial Grants Information
The goal of Vision Through Music® is to help blind and partially sighted children access and enjoy music. Vision Through Music® provides financial grants to music students to achieve that goal. Students who find teachers through the Vision Through Music® teacher registry are eligible to apply for financial grants.
Vision Through Music® financial grants may help fund:
- Tuition cost for instrumental or vocal lessons.
- Cost of musical instrument or music and assistive technology items.
Who is eligible for Vision Through Music® grants?
- Any blind or partially sighted student under age 18, who finds a teacher through the Vision Through Music® teacher registry and begins lessons with that teacher is eligible to apply for a financial grant. For students younger than 18 years, application must be made by a parent or guardian.
When should I apply?
- You may submit an application at any time, and the application will be considered within 60 days of receipt of the application.
How large are Vision Through Music® grants?
- Financial grants for lesson tuition are designed to help fund a 26-week term with a maximum amount of $1000. Grants for musical instruments and equipment will not exceed the cost of the item. An approved grant must be activated within 90 days of the grant approval. Renewal of grants is possible with re-application by student families.
Applications are assessed using these criteria:
- Importance of music to the student
- Expected benefit of the grant to the student
- Funding capacity of Vision Through Music®
- Vision Through Music® may receive more applications than it is able to support and can only consider applications where there is a clear benefit to the student.
