Dr. Lichtenstein is in private practice in Queens, New York.  An Adjunct Professor at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, he served on the Anterior Trauma Service for ten years in addition to teaching strabismus surgery to residents there and at other training programs in NYC.

Founding his own practice in 2001, Dr. Lichtenstein manages three office locations serving the full socioeconomic spectrum of NYC children and adults with strabismus. The mission of the practice is to bring top-quality pediatric ophthalmic care to underserved populations here at home, in a physical environment identical to that enjoyed by richer families.    In addition to AAPOS members, the practice integrates and maximizes the skills of optometrists trained in-house.

He currently serves AAPOS as the Secretary-Treasurer, having been elected to the AAPOS Board of Directors in July, 2019.  Previous committee service includes Audit (Chair) and Socioeconomic.

Eric Lichtenstein received his undergraduate degree from NYU (1990) and his medical degree from Albany Medical College (1994).   His internship at Beth Israel New York (1995) was heavily concentrated in adult AIDS medicine.  He completed Ophthalmology residency at New York Eye and Ear (1998) and fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Indiana University (1999).
