Dr. O’Hara is a native New Yorker living in Texas. She is a graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and served in the United States Army until 2004. She is a former president of the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology from 2002 through 2003 and a member of the AAO’s Leadership Development Program’s class of 2003. Upon retiring from active duty, Dr. O’Hara was on faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis where she is the emeritus Byron Demorest Chair in Pediatric Ophthalmology. She sits on several editorial boards and is active in international ophthalmology through Orbis and the Hawaiian Eye Foundation.
