Louis O'Neill is Counsel and Pro Bono Director at the global law firm White & Case. In addition to directing the pro bono practice, he advises the Firm's international pro bono and commercial clients on a broad range of matters, with a specialty in criminal appeals.
His experience combines a lengthy stint in public service with a private practice career and business career. O'Neill has served in non-political capacities as Ambassador and Head of Mission to Moldova for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as a Member of the State Department's Policy Planning Staff and White House Fellow to Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Before the White House Fellowship brought him to Washington, O'Neill served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Special Prosecutions Bureau of the New York County District Attorney's Office. He handled a broad range of white-collar, fraud, and organized-crime cases from investigation to sentencing. Before becoming a prosecutor, O'Neill served as General Counsel for a leading New York merchant bank and investment house. O'Neill began his career as an associate with White & Case.
