Mohamad S. Jaafar, MD is presently the Dorothy, Jay, Kara and Mark Weinstein Professor and Chairman Emeritus of Ophthalmology at the Children’s National Hospital, and Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University. He chairs the Advisory Board of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council and serves on the Board of the International Strabismological Association and other boards. He is a member of several Ophthalmology organizations and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He has received the Life Time Achievement Award of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Senior Achievement Award of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Professional Achievement Award of the Prevention of Blindness Society of the Washington Metropolitan Area, the Children’s National Sauber Award for Medical Excellence and three Golden Apple Awards for Teacher of the Year.
