Elias I. Traboulsi, M.D., M.Ed.
Dr. Elias I. Traboulsi is Head of Pediatric Ophthalmology and the Director of the Center for Genetic Eye Diseases at The Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute. He is Past President of The International Society for Genetic Eye Diseases and Retinoblastoma and of the Costenbader Society. He was Editor-In-Chief of Ophthalmic Genetics for 30 years. He served on the editorial boards of several Journals including Ophthalmology Retina, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of AAPOS. He has authored more than 500 scientific articles and book chapters. Among his books are “Genetic Diseases of the Eye” in its third edition and “Practical Management of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus”. He gave more than 25 named Lectures including the AAO “Marshall M. Parks Lecture”, the AOS “Frederick C. Blodi Lecture,”, and AAPOS’s “2018 Costenbader Lecture”. He has taught at academic institutions worldwide and trained numerous fellows. He holds the “Master Educator” Award from Cleveland Clinic. He is the recipient of the 2019 ACGME “Parker J. Palmer Courage to Lead Award” and the 2023 ACGME “Joseph C. Gienapp Award” for dedication and outstanding contributions to the enhancement of residency education.
