Robert S. Gold, MD
Robert S. Gold, M.D. has been in private practice as the senior pediatric ophthalmologist at Eye Physicians of Central Florida in Maitland and Orlando, Florida since July of 1987.
Dr. Gold attended both undergraduate and medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. His did his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University, also in New Orleans. He did a pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus fellowship at the James Hall Eye Foundation and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia before coming to Orlando. Dr. Gold is on the staff of the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital and AdventHealth for Children in Orlando. He is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Central Florida School of Medicine, past president of the American Eye Study Club and the pediatrics and strabismus editor of Ocular Surgery News.
Dr. Gold served as President of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus from July 2022 through June 2023. His tenure on the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Corporation began in 2011 and is the current Chairman of the Board from January 2023 to continue through December 2025. He is past chairman of the Underwriting Committee, and past chairman of OMIC’s Retinopathy of Prematurity Task Force.
