George S. Ellis, Jr., MD

Dr. Ellis is Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans and Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the LSU Eye Center and Tulane University. He has served as President of AAPOS, the American Eye Study Club, the Southern Medical Association, the Louisiana-Mississippi Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Society, the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Orthoptic Council. In the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) he served as Chair of the Section of Ophthalmology, on the Surgical Advisory Panel, and as the first surgeon on the National Membership Committee. In the AAO, he served as Councilor from the AAP and Louisiana and sat on the AAO Nominating Committee. He has chaired the Department of Surgery at Children’s Hospital and was President Elect of the Orleans Parish Medical Society. He has received the Senior Honor Award from the AAO and Lifetime Achievement Award from AAPOS.
